We can now confirm that payment acceptance across multiple services, including online payments, Square for Restaurants and Square Invoices were reporting significant increases in latency failures leading to elevated payment declines.
However, payment acceptance has now returned to normal and Instant Transfers have been fully restored.

Update
In addition to disruptions to online payment acceptance, we are now receiving confirmed reports of Instant Transfers being stuck in a pending state as a result of the downstream third-party outage.
Our Engineering team has disabled Instant Transfers in the meantime until this issue is resolved.
